After more than two decades of releasing R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, and beyond, we’ve released our first Latin record: SIEMPRE (FOREVER), by Vince & The Valholla Empire featuring Colombian vocalist Diana Saraa.
It started as an idea to reimagine our single FOREVER as an original Spanish-language production, not a translation tacked onto an existing track, but a full reinterpretation built from the ground up. Three years later, that idea is finally a song.
Here’s what Vince said about the release in a recent newsletter:
“It took us 3 years to finish this song.For most of my career, I’ve worked on either R&B or Hip Hop, some Pop music, and, recently, other genres. But our label has never released Latin music… until this week. The idea started with a Latin version of our single FOREVER. I wanted to create an original production and have the entire song in Spanish. Doing a song in a language and genre outside of what you’re familiar with has to be done with care and respect. I wanted to get it right, so I reached out to a friend who listens to Latin music. It’s a part of her culture, and if I were going to make music in this genre, I wanted it to be authentic.
After getting production that matched the direction we were going in, we had the song translated. Once we had that and the demo, I had to find someone to actually record it. I’m always working on songs, so I didn’t rush to get it done and ended up moving on to more songs. Then I stumbled upon Diana Saraa. She’s a session musician from Colombia, and she had the perfect voice for the song. Over the course of a few days, we remotely recorded the song, and we finally had the song complete, 3 years after we started. Today, SIEMPRE (FOREVER) is finally out, and I just want to make sure that whoever ends up hearing this knows that a lot of thought and care were put into making this so people who love Latin music could enjoy it.
