How did ‘Power’ end up being one of the best TV series to debut this year? It kinda snuck up on us, I know I was surprised. The 8 episode first season ended last night and I was really impressed with the series so far. The opening sequence includes one of the best records I’ve personally heard from 50 in years. Visually, it’s one of the best opening sequences from a show I’ve seen.
Overall, the show is really dope and 50 is connected directly to it. I’m not sure how much influence he has on the direction of the show but, it doesn’t matter. It’s a great look to be connected to something as good as ‘Power’. Business wise, it’s been 50’s best connection to something outside of music… Or at least, that I can remember since Vitamin Water. The creator and executive producer of Power, Courtney Kemp Agboh has been in the business for years and was even a writer on The Bernie Mac Show, among her other credits.
Starz renewed ‘Power’ for a second season (10 Episodes) for a return in 2015. This is perfect because it gives everyone who slept on this series to come around by then. If you haven’t seen it yet, GO!!! Here’s some ways you can watch it

UPDATE: According to Starz, Power produced the largest concentration of African-American viewers of any scripted series on a premium channel since The Wire in 2006. It also had 4 Million viewers an episode. Great to see a good show be well received.
