Vince Valholla & StayLookingOut reimagine Rihanna’s ANTI with The New Order

“The New Order” was launched on January 2015 by Miami based record producer/arranger, Vince Valholla & engineer/producer StayLookingOut. The concept? Reimagine select albums or collection of songs with new arrangements and sequences. The series started with a New Order version of Nicki Minaj’s Pinkprint album. After releasing the project on Soundcloud and receiving over 50,000+ streams, UMG pulled it from its platform. Next in the series was a “rearrangement” of Drake’s IYRTITL, bypassing Soundcloud, the project was posted on Audiomack. Sometime after the New Order version “If You’re Reading This…” received over 100,000 plays, it too was shut down. Their next release would come with a new twist. “56 Nights with a Monster on Beast Mode” was released on Audiomack in late September 2015 and was an instant favorite among the series. This New Order project featured songs from Future’s recent trilogy of Mixtapes and select songs from his DS2 album. After becoming one of the top 200 releases on Audiomack for 2015 in just over a month, the project was pulled yet again.

Today, Vince Valholla & StayLookingOut return with the New Order edition of Rihanna‘s ANTI album. This article doesn’t include of a link to stream or download the project. Instead, you’ll have to find it somewhere on the internet. Don’t worry, you should be able to find it… and it’s worth the time looking for it. Here’s a hint [ THE URL MAY START WITH THE NAME OF THE SERIES THEN THEN NAME OF THE ALBUM THEN A DOT THEN TUMBLR THEN DOT COM ]

Here’s a breakdown of some of the things that we changed on ANTI. Oh, and when you listen to our version, don’t skip any songs…

Intro / Good Night Gotham
When I think of ANTI, I think of one word, rebellion. When I heard ANTI for the first time, I loved that it started with one of the of my favorite records from the album, “Consideration” featuring SZA. Like most of our New Order editions, we changed the intro. For ANTI, we used “Good Night Gotham” which is available only on the Deluxe version. This, to us was the best way to start this project because the mood it set. We also shortened it by 30+ seconds.

Pose
We picked Pose after Good Night Gotham because it sounded perfect right after. When I heard Pose, the production screamed “Beginning” to me. So, her lyrics didn’t really help this choice happen. We added elements of “Woo” on the end of this track and it kind of prepares you for the tempo change.

Woo
This, being the super rebellious version of ANTI, “Woo”, tempo wise may not have worked for track 3 but because of the overall flow of things. We added a new arrangement at the end of this song.

Needed Me
There isn’t anything really added to this song but ends up being the best record before “James Joint”.

James Joint
There’s no added production or changes to arrangement on this record.

Work Feat. Drake
There’s no added production or changes to arrangement on this record.

Desperado
There’s no added production or changes to arrangement on this record.

Consideration Feat. SZA
This is probably my favorite song on the album. We added a dope change to the ending of this version. Do you notice the change?

Sex With Me
This is the part of the album where we start the mood change. “Consideration” was the beginning of a new phase of the album.
There’s no added production or changes to arrangement on this record.

Kiss It Better
This is another one of my top favorites from the album.
There’s no added production or changes to arrangement on this record.

Yeah I said it
This song is the last part of three songs with a similar vibe. “Sex With Me”, “Kiss It Better” and “Yeah I said it” go perfect together.

Same Ol’ Mistakes with Tame Impala
We all know that this was a cover of Tame Impala’s “New Person Same Old Mistakes”. Rihanna kills this record on her own but I thought, “what would it sound like with both Kevin Parker and Rihanna was on this song?” So that’s what we did. We added Kevin Parkers (Tame Impala) and Rihanna vocals together and now you have a duet! This song starts the final mood of the album.

Never Ending
There’s no added production or changes to arrangement on this record.

Higher
This song was the perfect length and flows into “Love On The Brain”. (The original version has “Higher” after.)
There’s no added production or changes to arrangement on this record.

Love On The Brain
There’s no added production or changes to arrangement on this record.

Close to You
“Close to You” sounded like the perfect record to end the entire album.
There’s no added production or changes to arrangement on this record.

This project was fun to do and we think we accomplished the goal of altering the overall mood and delivery of the album by simply changing the sequencing and fusing those songs together. We really like the retail version of the album but this version gives you a new experience. Let us know what you think. -Vince
